When I started running and what got me started:
I gave up gymnastics in favor of running when I was 13 years old and it was clear I wasn't going to make the Olympics in gymnastics :-). Running is not a judged sport; if you cross the line first, you win.
What does running mean to me:
Running is about mental toughness and having a body I can be proud of (how many women can say THAT?). I enjoy the peacefulness of running alone and the camaraderie of groups.
Mount Washington Road Race, Pikes Peak Ascent
What I like about trail/mountain running:
After running at elevation, I feel so strong anywhere else.

Boulder Canyon. Very scenic.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Any and all
Best running experience:
Running at night on a dirt trail with the moon casting shadows

Having to race through a cow pasture in high school XC. Those of us with strong kicks had it in our hair!
Neatest thing found on a run:
4 leaf clovers, black bear
Running related bathroom stop story:
In high school XC, I was in the bathroom when the gun went off to start the race. I managed to win the race, but had to tolerate a lot of berating for years afterward.
Running pet peeves:
Running in the city with no bathroom or woods in sight
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I have found several 4-leaf clovers in my lifetime. I'm averaging about one/ year.
Other hobbies and interests:
Rock climbing, cycling, swimming, rollerblading, skiing, swing dancing, ballroom dancing, singing and musicals
I have some expertise in nutrition and shoe-tying technique that I will be happy to share
