Age: 22.5 years old
What I do for work:
Math Tutor, Grader, Electrical Engineering student, all at UCCS
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Iowa for the first 18 years, then I discovered mountains.
When I started running and what got me started:
My dad ran marathons when I was younger, and I loved running around the neighborhood loop with him; then my family got into triathlon. Got a scholarship to run for UCCS, then decided after a year in CO there are way too many other experiences and adventures I did not want to miss out on! My main running races for this year are the Collegiate Peaks 25 and the Leadville Marathon.
What does running mean to me:
I think about this question a lot. I also think about the meaning of life quite frequently as well, so...
What I like about trail/mountain running:
Everything--I can think of no better way to spend my time than being outside and being able to explore on my feet. I like to feel pain, I like to smile, and I like to feel perfectly at peace with the world and myself.
Favorite running trail and why:
Rampart Res. It's gorgeous and quiet. In the fall I loved the aspens and views on Boreas Pass in Breck.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Leadville 100 because it was the first ultra I ever saw. Though not really a race, Nolan's 14 would be completely epic.
Neatest thing found on a run:
$20. Pretty neat for a college student.
Running pet peeves:
Other hobbies and interests:
Hiking, car camping, and attempting to not crash my mountain bike.
