What I do for work:
Full time student at UCCS-Geography and Energy Science, as well as work full time in the Finance department at FT. Carson.
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Im Back in Colorado springs and love it. I spent 5 years in the Army and was all over, i spent the last 3.5 years in Washington D.C, not a big fan of big cities.
When I started running and what got me started:
I started running when I was 7, at local fun runs with my dad and brother. My older brother Jeff ran in middle school-college, I guess i just kinda followed him, and beat him on occasion. I ran all through highschool but never had the chance to run in college.
What does running mean to me:
Running to me is freedom from worry, a chance to test my body, to be around like minded friends, and enjoy new places. I gives me a rush you cant find anywhere else
View my Pikes Peak Ascent/Marathon results
I have finished the Ascent from 98-2002. I have ran a 34:02 10k in Mobile Al. I ahve ran 3 marathons, in cluding the Marine Corps Marathon in D. C twice. I Am getting back i shape now, and just having fun runing again. Lokking forward to the Ascent and MT. Evans Ascent.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
I like to push my self, i like the openness of the trails, the low crowds. Un beatable scenery. I have always been better at hills and like to see others really hurt if they want to beat me to the top. Mostly i just like being outside in the mountains and not on the city streets.
Favorite running trail and why:
Incline, or bar trail. beautiful, and painful all at the same time.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Pikes Peak Ascent or Bar trail mountain Race. I am an avid mountain climber, so racing up a moutain is always the best. Plus its a great race, grat view, and right in my back yard.
Best running experience:
2nd time i ever did the ascent i ran it with my brother, we ran side by side the whole way and crossed the finish together. No matter how fast or slow i got, or what other races i did, nothing ever beat that one.
Worst running experience:
3rd time i did the Ascent, i got silver doller size blisters on both heels, and almost tore my ACL, MCL, And I.T band, all around mile 9, I finished, but wanted to die, I actually bleed through the backs of my running shoes. In retrospect, finishing may not have been the best idea, I couldnt run again for 9 months.
Neatest thing found on a run:
Found a cool pair awsome brooks gloves at mile 2 of the marine corps Marathon.
Running related bathroom stop story:
during the 2000 boulder Bolder i was in the A wave, on pace to run a sub 33....or so i hoped. ended up stopping with for a porta john 4 times. finished in a 41 ish.
Running pet peeves:
People with misbehaving animals that they let run loose on the trail, and people who dont clean up after there pets on the middle of a trail.
Something non running related that no one would guess about me:
I served as a Guard at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetary for 3.5 years.
Other hobbies and interests:
Rock Climbing, snowboarding, cycling, Mountain Climbing, cooking.
My goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
