What I do for work:
Places Ive called home and why I like where I am now:
Raised in central Florida. Moved to Colorado in 1995 to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy then lived in Ohio, Southern California desert, Colorado Springs (again), Montana, California (again, this time L.A.) and back to Colorado Springs (for a third time in 2015).
When I started running and what got me started:
Joined my high school cross country team as a freshman in 1991 and I'm still going strong!
What does running mean to me:
Freedom, sanity, joy
Walt Disney World Marathon Overall Female Champion in 2005 (2:56:06)! Proud to have run on the USAFA cross country and track teams from 1995-1999. Happy to usually take home some overall or age group hardware in most local races, from 5Ks to Half Marathons.
What I like about trail/mountain running:
The soul-filling beauty of the mountains.
Favorite running trail and why:
Falcon Trail on USAFA.
Favorite trail/mountain race and why:
Fear the Deer Half Marathon.
Best running experience:
Rounding a bend in Limbaugh Canyon and seeing the trail wind through an enormous field of waist-high wildflowers. Tied with winning the Disney Marathon ;-)
Worst running experience:
Running through knee pain for nearly a year before rehabbing it and having to significantly cut mileage through the year-long recovery afterward. Once knee healed, pain crept into hip/butt and has lingered off-and-on for 5 years. Getting old sucks!
Other hobbies and interests:
Cross-country skiing (skating and Classic), downhill skiing, hiking, biking
Planning to register for my first Ascent in 2017!
