2008 Season News

8/5/2008 Tuesday - it is that time of year where ICers are starting from many different locations at many different times. Please report any missing *s.

5/11/2008 Sun: For many of the 59 who showed today it was either Waldo/Longs or both - the Double. It was a perfect day for whatever one did.

5/8/2008 Thurs: 45 more came out today. This time it was the 30 minute Tempo run followed by 5 Hydro Hell repeats.

5/4/2008 Sun: 55 showed for the scheduled run of Section 16.

5/1/2008 Thurs: 45 ICer did 30 mins of 1 min hard, 1 min easy. Afterwards, we moved up to 5 Hydros since it is the 5th month.

4/27/2008 Sun: Most of the 59 who showed today headed off for either Waldo or Longs or both. There were only 4 steps in snow on the whole run:-)

4/24/2008 Thurs: Finally, a nice day for a run and it brought out our largest Thursday group this year - 49. The protocol was a 30 minute tempo run up the Barr Trail.

4/20/2008 Sun: 66 showed for our first trip over to Section 16 in a long time. It is always awesome to run the backside of the loop with its gentle downhill.

4/17/2008 Thurs: 41 came out for yet another fairly cold day. What is up with that? But 30 minutes of 1 minute hard, 1 minute easy quickly warmed things up!

4/13/2008 Sun: An almost perfect running day greeted 61 ICers. The evil Double loop - Waldo/LRR - was the run today. For those not doing the whole run quite a few made one loop or the other for the first time.

4/10/2008 Thurs: 46 just missed another snow storm today. Instead, we had pretty decent conditions for a 30 minute tempo run up the Barr Trail followed by 4 Hydro Hill repeats

4/6/2008 Sun: 69 came out for a trip to Barr Camp. No snow until No Name Creek. From there snow and wind were the order of the day.

4/3/2008 Thurs: 47 showed for the first Thursday workout of the 2008 season. And to keep us honest we were greeted by a monster snowstorm. Big flakes turned hair to ice and by the Rock Arch there was 4" of the new stuff! Amazing - Springtime in the Rockies.

3/30/2008 Sun: 68 came out for a great day of running. The snow is gone for large parts of the Waldo/Longs Double although mid to upper Longs is still covered in it.

3/23/2008 Sun: Another 49 came out today. Pretty darn cold passed No Name Creek.

3/16/2008 Sun:49 showed for toda’s run. There was little snow on Rampart Range Road.

3/9/2008 Sun: 51 ICers came out today. The goal was Barr Camp. A few actually made it.

3/2/2008 Sun: Another snowstorm kept the group rather small - 42. In fact, it was only the diehards that came out as no one with less than 5 runs was up for the challenge. And challenge it was because the new snow covered the ice and made for some tricky running and some nasty spills. The ice was so bad on lower Longs Ranch Road that many just headed up it instead of risking the trip over to Waldo.

2/24/2008 Sun: For the 2nd week in a row 55 showed. Today was a trip up to Barr Camp and back. The ice was not as bad as last time.

2/17/2008 Sun: Hell! That is the only way to describe today’s run. Tons of ice! Tons of snow! Cold! You name it and it conspired against us. But 55 of us went home knowing that we fought the elements today and it was a good feeling.

2/10/2008 Sun: For only the second time this season less than 60 runners showed. 57 came out today for a trip up and down the rather icy Barr Trail. Well, icy up to No Name Creek and then lots, and lots of snow.

2/3/2008 Sun: 62 ICers showed today despite the cold. But it warmed up somewhat and it turned into a great day for the Waldo/LRR double! Lots of ice under the snow but once again screw shoes saved the day...

1/27/2008 Sun: 64 came out today with many heading up the Barr Trail. A much bigger group than last time made it all the way to Barr Camp:-) There was some ice on the trail however and those without screw shoes were probably hating. Well, some just avoided it altogether and headed up Rampart Range Road.

1/20/2008 Sun: A large group of 68 came out for the Waldo/LRR double. Of course only a few do the whole thing but quite a few reported doing all of either Waldo or LRR for the first time. Progress is progress and that is what is all about!

1/13/2008 Sun: 63 came out for our first trip up the Barr Trail. It looked like about 15 made it all the way to Barr Camp. The snow was well packed with little ice to slow us down. All and all, perfect winter running conditions. We also had a mini-feedbag at the end of the run which hit the spot nicely:-)

1/6/2008 Sun: The first club run of the new year was an epic—the Waldo/LRR double. And with an early morning near blizzard and very icy roads, just getting to the run was an accomplishment. But 53 people did just that and the run itself was awesome!

12/29/2007 Sun: The last run of 2007 brought out 66 ICers. It was cold and even a little windy in sections but Longs Ranch Road has a way of warming one up. And up and UP!

12/23/2007 Sun: 64 showed for a pre X-mas eve run. The sun came out about half way into the run and made for a perfect weather day. Just a few icy spots on Waldo.

12/16/2007 Sun: Food, food, food! That was the big news today and 73 were treated to lots of it after they run up Longs Ranch Road. The snow was not too bad and thanks to the cold spell we have been under it has yet to melt and turn to ice on the Barr Trail. But back to the food, today was our first mini-feedbag of the year and it was not so mini:-) Well done everybody!

12/9/2007 Sun: What started out as a cold 12 degree day warmed up to 13 degrees by the end of the run. As such, the group was a little smaller today with only 57 braving the winterfest. But those that showed got in a great run while those that did not have something to think about come race day...

12/2/2007 Sun: 84 ICers got signed up today. The run was the infamous Longs Ranch Road. The report is quite a few actually made it:-)

11/25/06 Sun: The 12th season of the Incline Club is underway! 102 signed in (of which 95 made the group photo) for a run out UPT and then over and around Waldo Canyon. Although the day started a tad cold @ 26, no one could complain about the weather because it warmed up nicely to 59 degrees. In fact, many hung around after the run to catch up from the off season.

11/21/06 Wed: A second e-mail was sent out announcing the start of the 2008 season.

11/17/06 Sat: An e-mail was sent out today announcing the start of the 2008 season — our 12th.

8/23/2007 Thur: The annual end of season IC party took place today. Lots of war stories and lots of food. Connilee Walter won the Driven award for the year. The club is now in off season mode until the last Sunday in November.
